I was looking through my PhotoBucket album, trying to see if I’d missed something that I can put in my cellphone (yes, I’m still at it!) and I discovered not a photograph but something else. These are screenshots that my friend and I took when we were playing Ragnarok Online five years ago. Our characters were both priestesses. Then, because we were so addicted to the game, we became High Priestessess. Level 99! You can just imagine how much money we poured into that game!

We started playing when the game was still on beta testing. Mostly, we just enjoyed the experience of playing with other people online, since this is the first MMORPG in the country. I first tried the character of mage, but since I grew tired of everyone kill-stealing everytime I tried to level-up, I decided to switch to an acolyte, and enjoyed the experience of everyone vying for my attention! It’s a good thing all that attention never got to my head! When the game officially started, that’s when my friend and I became obssessed with collecting all kinds of headgears Ragnarok Online has to offer. I became accustomed to finishing quests just to acquire a coveted headgear.

Well, at first it was fun, but because of botting and hacking (darn you hackers! I got hacked!), we grew tired of the game. The weekly guild siege helped somewhat to enliven the game for a time… at least for my friend, she’s sooo bloodthirsty!

But we soon find ourselves enjoying the game by visiting the different maps. As the game progresses, new maps were introduced. And as priestesses, it’s very easy to travel with warp and teleport. With heals and various support skills, we were able to survive, and we became adept in evading strong monsters from the lowest dungeons to the highest towers. We became like tourists, and my friend took a lot of screenshots and we decided to compile them. Credit goes to my friend, who made the design of the comics.

The only unfortunate thing to have happened was the fact that my friend’s hard drive crashed, and most of our unfinished work were lost. Really felt bad about that part, and because of that disappointing moment, my lingering enjoyment over the game went completely splat!

Here’s a sample of the screenshots we took… (my avatar’s name was Cassiel and my friend was Lady Lazarus. We encountered Amon Ra, the MVP Boss of the pyramids. Unfortunately, since there’s only two support priestessess available, nevermind the high-level botters littering the place, the only thing we could do was to have fun letting him chase us all over the place… too bad for the loots…)
